About me

Hi my name’s Billy and I love science, maths and chess. I have been a tutor for 5 years and have helped many students reach their potential and find a love for subjects that are often rushed through and neglected.

I studied a Bachelor of Science at TUKS and just finished my Master’s degree in Animal Sciences. I am currently continuing with further Postgraduate studies. I completed first – and second year calculus, statistics, physics, biochemistry and organic chemistry modules during my studies.

My teaching method is based on at least a thousand hours of hands-on tutoring experience with all grades and levels of maths and science.

How I work

I work with a 3 point plan that makes sure my students have a strong foundation in maths and science.

1. Remedial work

I identify gaps in their understanding by using custom weekly worksheets that cover the entire syllabus. We then focus on filling these gaps by starting the problem topic over and relearning the methodology in the easiest and most logical way.

2. Classroom work

I cover current and future topics of their classroom syllabus. I teach the students to summarise the work and we do exercises of the new topics 3 times: together, alone with some help, and then completely unassisted.

3. Revision

I help them with revision. I give them homework based on the topics covered in class and previous identified gaps and other weak points on a weekly basis. I always make sure that the students know exactly how to do every problem that I give them for homework so that parents don’t need to help. This way we not only teach the topic through repetition, but also help to increase their self-reliance and confidence in their abilities.
